Twitter is my new newspaper. It’s my new 24 hour news channel. It’s my new industry magazine. It’s my new resource library.
I follow people who are interested in the same things I am interested in:
"Apartments, and how to fill them."
I don’t use Twitter to get a following, I don’t use it as a marketing source. But I do use Twitter when I have some down time and I want to see what’s going on in the industry. To me, Twitter is 250 strangers that share interesting stories with me anytime they find them on the internet.
It’s like a river of information that is constantly flowing through my computer. Anytime I’m thirsty, I dip my cup in the river and take a sip. About 50 Tweets an hour roll through my Twitter feed. That’s 50 links every hour that have something to do with the industry that has captured my fascination, dominates my thoughts, and pays my bills.
What a great tool! Imagine a newspaper that is published every hour and contains 50 articles on the multifamily industry.
That’s what Twitter is to me.
So go ahead and “be against Twitter.” Is it that much worse then where you spend your downtime on the internet? Probably not.
