Cause Marketing Your Apartment
Recently, I have heard rumblings all over the internet about the power of Charitable Giving as a marketing strategy. The trend is referred to as “cause marketing,” and it involves a company choosing a charity, donating to the charity, and then documenting and marketing the donation.
While some people fear that the sudden “Cause Marketing Bandwagon” will become so large that consumers will be overwhelmed by too many campaigns, I believe that we are just tapping into this new way to grab our customer’s attention.
Here is a great article on Cause Marketing by Steve Adams at The Daily News Tribune.
Recently, American Express has launched a great Cause Marketing Campaign as part of their Members Project.
The commercials run like a documentary, or a news segment highlighting a charity. Only at the end of the 60 second segment do we see the American Express name and even then, Amx is not pushing their product. It is the definition of awareness advertising and it is working.
The next time your property is running a special, or giving away a cruise or a TV, maybe it’s time to investigate doing a cause marketing campaign. Perhaps instead of giving away a car, we can give away a free apartment to a person making a difference in the community.
We can put up banners to advertise the give-away, and call the local paper to see if they would like to do a story on the event. In today’s business world, awareness is the key. Charitable giving turns heads and raises awareness about a company or product. Why not give it a try?
