The Value of a Warm Greeting

How are you greeting your customers? Are you making them feel welcome when they walk in the door?

Or let me ask you this; have you ever walked into a party and nobody acknowledged that you were there?

Compare it to the times you have walked into a room full of people and everyone cheered your name!

I am sure everyone out there has found themselves in both situations at some point in their life. When we compare the two we can really see how a warm greeting makes us feel comfortable, welcome, and in some instances, euphoric. It's the difference between walking into a home versus a strange place.

Everyone like to preach about the importance of first impressions. Yet when we think of the important steps in the sales process, the greeting seems to fall to the wayside. Everyone is so concerned with marketing, the product demonstration, closing, and follow up, while nobody ever talks about the greeting.

I am 100% convinced that your ability to close a sale is exponentially increased by the simple act of standing up to greet your customers. Think about it the next time you walk into a store and the people working there just glance up from their desk and murmur "can I help you?"
